The Last Minute Eric Rohmer Symposium by Nathan Douglas

On March 21, I had the pleasure of co-hosting a last minute Zoom symposium in honour of Eric Rohmer on what would have been his 100th birthday.

Rohmer fans and cinephiles from around the world were joined by two very special guests: Marie Rivière, star of The Aviator’s Wife, The Green Ray, and Autumn Tale, and Mary Stephen, editor of every Rohmer feature from A Tale of Winter to The Romance of Astrea and Celadon.

We spoke with Ms. Rivière and Ms. Stephen for 2 hours. My thanks to Dan Sallitt for helping to co-facilitate our discussion. A 30 minute post-symposium discussion can be viewed here.

Holy Family Parish (2020) by Nathan Douglas

Last year I was given the opportunity to direct a short piece about Holy Family Parish in Vancouver. Not only is this my own parish, but it’s become a second home to me over the last several years.

It was a pleasure to make a short work about my own faith community. The film is a journey into the liturgical, community, and musical life of the parish. I hope you enjoy it.

La Cartographe at Locarno Shorts Weeks by Nathan Douglas

Today marks the launch of the 2020 edition of Locarno Shorts Weeks, a month-long online festival of short films that played at previous editions of the Locarno Film Festival. This year’s edition focuses on the films of Locarno 2018, with one new film being posted each day up to Feb. 23.

I’m very excited to announce that La Cartographe is in the lineup and will be streaming online on both the Locarno Festival site and their Youtube channel for one week starting on February 7! Mark your calendars!

A new feature of the Shorts Weeks this year is the option to vote for your favourite film to receive a cash prize of 1000 CHF, so if you happen to enjoy La Cartographe, please remember to vote for us! Make sure to keep checking back each day for new films and do your best not to miss any, as it’s a pretty fantastic lineup.

Wishing everyone a ‘bon festival’ and happy watching.

La Cartographe at Cinema on the Bayou 2020 by Nathan Douglas

I’m pleased to share that after a largely uneventful 2019 on the circuit, La Cartographe will be screening this month at Cinema on the Bayou Film Festival in Lafayette, Louisiana. I’m delighted that the film has landed amongst such an intriguing lineup, including many other Canadian works.
