Podcast - Dekalog: Three (1989) by Nathan Douglas

I recently had the pleasure of returning to Criteria: The Catholic Film Podcast for another conversation (now with video!), this time discussing the third episode of Krzysztof Kieślowski’s DEKALOG, which loosely meditates on the Third Commandment: “Thou shalt keep the Sabbath holy.”

I’m grateful to hosts Thomas Mirus and James T. Majewski for having me back! Check it out on Youtube , Apple Podcasts, or where ever you get your podcast on.

Podcast - What Does "Cinematic" Mean? by Nathan Douglas

I recently had the pleasure of joining the Film Formally Podcast for a roundtable discussion on what the term “cinematic” really means.

Full disclosure: the hosts and other guests on this show are literally my closest collaborators and some of my oldest friends (we all went to the same film school more or less at the same time), and we tend to have these discussions off the air whenever we’re hanging out. I’m obviously biased, but I think we ended up having an insightful and wide-ranging discussion.

Check out the episode, and let them know what you think over on Facebook!

The Last Minute Eric Rohmer Symposium by Nathan Douglas

On March 21, I had the pleasure of co-hosting a last minute Zoom symposium in honour of Eric Rohmer on what would have been his 100th birthday.

Rohmer fans and cinephiles from around the world were joined by two very special guests: Marie Rivière, star of The Aviator’s Wife, The Green Ray, and Autumn Tale, and Mary Stephen, editor of every Rohmer feature from A Tale of Winter to The Romance of Astrea and Celadon.

We spoke with Ms. Rivière and Ms. Stephen for 2 hours. My thanks to Dan Sallitt for helping to co-facilitate our discussion. A 30 minute post-symposium discussion can be viewed here.
